We like to be creative with our cranberry sauce and try new things every now and then, but this is my go-to cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving Dinner. I adapted the recipe from one I found in a Food Network Magazine.
Ingredients
Bundle in Cheesecloth:
1 small cinnamon stick
1/2 teaspoon black peppercorns
Strips of orange zest removed from 1/2 orange
3-6 cloves
1 lbs fresh cranberries
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup red wine
Juice from one orange
Kosher salt
Directions
Bundle the cinnamon stick, peppercorns, orange zest and cloves in cheesecloth and tie closed with kitchen twine.
Combine the cranberries, sugar, red wine, 1 1/2 cups water and orange juice with pinch of salt in a saucepan.
Add the bundle of spices and summer over medium heat until the berries burst and the sauce thickens, about 15 - 20 minutes.
Remove from the heat and let cool off. Transfer to a bowl and refrigerate overnight.
Discard the cheesecloth bundle before serving.
